Heating and cooling in one system

Why cool a pool?
Lower water temperatures can make the pool more comfortable and can also reduce some of the conditions that encourage algae growth and rapid chemical loss. Cooler water can mean less evaporation and a more enjoyable pool during the hottest months.
Can an existing heater be converted?
In some cases an existing pool heat pump can be modified with a reversing valve, but that is model dependent and requires refrigerant work by an EPA certified technician. The equipment must be evaluated before assuming a conversion is possible.
